Golden Gate Fields History

Golden Gate Fields racetrack started horseracing on February 1, 1941. Using the American Tote 300, Golden Gate introduced one-window wagering — bet and cash at the same window on February 7, 1980. Russell Baze set the record in a Northern California meet for most victories on a single card on this historic racing track. The track eclipsed the $7 million mark for the first time in North California history.
